Business: NOVAS Scarman Group
Role: CEO

Maria started at the business in 2004 and has helped transform it from a provider of large hostels for homeless people, to being at the cutting edge of tackling problems for those who are socially disadvantaged. She has also helped NOVAS Scarman move away from relying on grants.

The Group changes lives and develops opportunities for individuals and communities through community support, education, training, employment, art, culture and regeneration.

Because of the unique range of Novas Scarman's activities, it can reach sectors that have not previously been open to the social enterprise model, including arts, culture and fashion. They have had coverage in Time Out, the Guardian Arts section and Vogue.
