Saeeda tells us how she got into social enterprise and why she thinks people should be concerned with their social footprint

Why did you set up Trescom?

We were passionate about diversity and felt that we wanted to help improve the lives of deprived communities and individuals in society. We didn’t want to tell communities what they needed, we wanted to work with them to help them say what they need and then to design simple, but innovative, ways to support them.

Did you think the company would be so successful?

When I was starting out, so many people in meetings just laughed at me when I told them what I wanted to do. They thought that this young person was unlikely to achieve what big organisations couldn't do at the time.

I proved them wrong and in six years we’ve done over 50 projects with more than 100 organisations. It took a lot of hard work, determination and learning along the way.

Did you always want to work for a social business?

This business wasn't what I planned to do, but there was always a part of me that liked fun and exciting activities and I wanted to help others in some way at the same time.

I loved travelling and hated the idea of doing the same boring tasks everyday of my life, so there was always ambition there in my heart waiting to be ignited!

Why did you become an ambassador?

To make a massive impact across society and help make everyone think about what they are doing for others. Everyone is talking about carbon footprint in terms of what we do for the environment, but I would like people to think of their social footprint and what they will leave behind for the people in society.
