After studying archaeology andanthropology, Tim worked in the music industry as a composer and producer for a decade before founding the cultural and ecological oasis in Cornwall.
He has been recognised a number oftimes for his work. Tim has received the Royal Society of Arts Albert Medal and in 2002 he was awarded an Honorary CBE in the New Year Honours. He has also appeared on This is Your Life and Desert Island Discs and was voted as the person social entrepreneurs would most like to see become Prime Minister, in a 2007 poll by Social Enterprise Magazine.
Eden began as a dream in 1995 and opened its doors to the public in 2000. It contains world-class horticulture and awesome architecture, which has been vital inencouraging local regeneration. Since then, more than six million people have come to see what was once a sterile pit, turned into a cradle of life.
Eden is a not-for-profit charitable trust. It relies on donations to improve on-site interpretation andaccessibility, and to expand educational outreach programmes. The aim is to maintain a strong and diverse financial base – through donors, supporters, sponsors, legacies and volunteers.
