Hitting the streets for Social Enterprise Day |
The gang are on the road for Social Enterprise Day, talking to people
all over the country about being part of the biggest business buzz in
Britain. Below is just a taste of some of the activities going on.
The Social Enterprise Coalition has organised a ‘social enterprise on the move’ tour around London for ministers, journalists and young entrepreneurs. Everyone will be travelling on an HCT double decker, provided by ambassador Dai Powell.
The day kicks off at 8.45am, with the official launch of Make Your Mark in 60 Seconds at Swanlea School in East London. Two of the youngest ambassadors, Tim Campbell and Emily Eavis were involved in this exciting project to get young people to share their entrepreneurial ideas and raise cash for their project.
At 11am, the bus will stop at the Treasury, where 21 leading young social entrepreneurs - including Matt Kepple - are launching the Commission for Youth Social Entrepreneurship. Liam Black, ambassador and CEO of the Fifteen Foundation, will be overseeing events.
The bus will stop for a tour of Maria Donoghue-Mill’s Novas, where she will showcase the amazing art produced by people her project has helped.
Freebies
Throughout the day, volunteers will be handing out goodies from ambassadors’ businesses including Reed Paget’s Belu Water, Penny Newman’s Cafedirect drinks and Sophi Tranchell’s Divine chocolate.
And, in the evening, ambassador Nigel Kershaw will take part in a debate titled 'The only way is up? Can the recent successes of the social enterprise sector be sustained’ at the Grouse and Claret in London.
Outside of London, there’s lots going on as well. Julie Harris from Cosmic will be the Keynote speaker at Torbay Development Agency, while leaves a team of young people running the business for the week.
