Claudine
tells us who inspires her and what she’s planning for the future
When did you develop a social view
of society?
Probably when I was at uni. I used to
organise social activities for the youth at my church and my interest
began to develop. I was always busy organising something or another.
How does your enterprise work?
Our aim is to serve the needs of the
community by offering development services and programmes that
enhance the wellbeing and holistic development of service users.
Built on the ethos of empowerment, services are designed to bring out
the best in people through care, education and music.
What did you want to be when you
were growing up?
A business owner, I wasn’t sure was
kind though.
What kind of person makes a good social
entrepreneur?
Someone with good leadership skills,
self discipline and integrity, who is able to motivate themselves and
others.
“The bits I don’t enjoy I class as a learning experience, and I love learning experiences.”
What other social
entrepreneurs/businesses do you admire and why?
TD
Jakes and John Maxwell. I admire the
work they do and I am able to learn from their practice and good
example.
What advice would you give to budding social
entrepreneurs?
Be patient, Rome was not built in a day. Make
sure you know what is driving you, this will keep you going during
the rough times. Apply (not just listen to) good advice, change
practises that do not benefit the business and teach others what you
have learned.
What are the best and worst
parts of your job?
I love my job! At the moment I don’t think there are any worst
parts. The bits I don’t enjoy I class as a learning experience and
I love learning experiences.
Why did you become an ambassador?
I don’t take this
responsibility lightly. I want to inspire and motivate women
(including teenagers) and faith community leaders. In 2008, I am
planning a number of workshops and events that explore the balancing
act between women, business and family.
