Welcome to (another) Julie blog here at the Social Enterprise Ambassadors. I am currently posting on three seperate blogs for different purposes and its good to have a chance to post specifically on the work I am doing as an ambassador and thoughts which are specific to the social enterprise movement.

This is me -

Julie Harris, Chief Executive at COSMIC www.cosmic.org.uk

Chair of RISE which is the SW support organisation for SE www.rise-sw.org.uk

And so a round up of the past week seems to be in order as a first post. Its been a very busy one with plenty of opportunities to promote the ambassador role and discuss with people their understanding of SE and developments.

Principle features from the week included -

- Rural ICT Conference at Lackham College near Chippenham with a chance to present to the main audience and also to run a workshop focussing on social enterprise as the answer to the delivery of ICT services for groups and organisations in rural areas. Excellent attendance from a wide cross-sector including third sector, public sector, BT, Ruralnet UK and seven of the nine Regional ICT Champions. A great day and opportunity to talk about the work of ambassadors across the country.

- Social Enterprise Mark Breakfast Meeting - at Dartington Hall in South Devon. As part of the initiative being piloted by RISE, I hosted the breakfast which provided opportunities for SE leaders in the south SW to come together and discuss the new Mark and the potential for us to develop a new network of support for leaders. Very exciting and excellent discussions within the group - including the age-old definition debates!  Looking forward to more opportunities for developing more and more organisations to become Mark holders and join the leaders network. Fellow ambassadors Ken from MDCR was there so a good chance to spread the message jointly too.
