We've reached the final of the Learning Skills Council's 'South West Employer of the Year' award for outstanding commitment to training and developing our staff. I had a video team come to do an interview so I was able to put my ambassadors' media training to good use. I'll let you know how we get on.
I went to a meeting of Devon Social Enterprises this morning. It was a breakfast meeting so it helped me feel like a very important businessman! Our main topic of discussion was the Social Enterprise Marque (is that how you spell it or have I just proposed we all sign up to a big tent?) and as ever, everyone was very enthusiastic about it.There was a strong feeling that we would like to meet more often to support one another and exchange ideas.
Life as an ambassador continues to offer me opportunities to influence important people and to change the world. I've just come back from a few days holiday to find a request for me to speak to the local Inner Wheel Group. For those of you who are not in the know, the qualification to become an 'Inner Wheel' member is that you have to be married to a Rotarian. Presumably if he leaves you for another woman your grief is compounded by the automatic loss of your 'Inner Wheel' membership! I would politely decline but one of my best customers is the Rotary Club president - wheels within wheels. I'll let you know how this one goes.
