Social Enterprise Mark
Hi
My company, Mid Devon Community Recycling, has just had its application accepted to become a holder of the Social Enterprise Mark. This means we'll be licensed to use the badge on all our paperwork and our vehicles.
My quote for the press release was as follows:
"We're delighted to become a holder of the social enterprise mark. We believe our Social Enterprise status is an increasingly powerful selling point for us - something unique, that gives us a real edge over conventional competitors. Holding the mark will help us to shout about that edge".
I'm really hoping that, within a few years, the badge will become as universally recognised as the fair trade badge.
We thought long and hard about whether to apply because it is a reasonably significant expense but in the end we really wanted to support the concept. The form filling was a bit daunting - even for a seasoned form filler like me! and the degree of risk taking was scary - how embarrassing would it have been if a Social Enterprise Ambassador's company was deemed not to qualify to use the Social Enterprise badge.
Anyway, it's now done and dusted and we can't wait to get the logo on our paperwork.
